You awaken after a devastating accident in the year 845 - weak, disoriented, and clinging to life. (Check the buff in-game at the bottom left!) The bodies of your friends are scattered everywhere. From this moment on, survival becomes your only purpose. You must learn to endure the brutal world of the Viking Age, adapt to ancient traditions, and fight for a place among the gods. At the start you can only see the trader on the map until you unlock your compass - press Y in-game to open the FAME & HONOR window and stride through your first steps. Vikings Mod ships with its own hand-placed world - hundreds of POIs, from Christian churches and catacombs to open-cast mines and shipyards. Every menu recut in carved beige stone, with red UI text replaced by a gold tone that's actually legible. Item comparisons and the sandbox options menu were rebuilt from the ground up. LEARN BY GODS - you are rewarded by the gods for the actions you take, and you also earn FAME Points that you can distribute freely. You can find runes in many chests - but also while digging through earth or stone. Break these runes to learn from the gods how items and weapons are crafted. In the battlecraft window, you can track your progress and discover which items belong to which category. Along the way you'll cross blades with lesser threats too: Sigurd Snake-Eye, Torvi and Rollo, each with a hardened Iron variant.
